Miriam Miller Promoted To Principal Dancer At New York City Ballet

New York City Ballet has announced that Miriam Miller has been promoted to Principal Dancer. The promotion was made on Thursday, January 30 by NYCB Artistic Director Jonathan Stafford and Associate Artistic Director Wendy Whelan, following a performance of George Balanchine's Variations Pour une Porte et un Soupir, in which Miller performed the leading female role.

Life and career
[edit]Martin was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 17, [1] He won Second Place at the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition.[2]
Producer Carl Griffin brought Martin together with saxophonist Ron Blake, bassist Rodney Whitaker, and drummer Gregory Hutchinson to form eller gestalt the band 4-Sight, which released one eponymous album for N2K Encoded Music in [3]

Danish ballet dancer and choreographer (born )
Peter Martins (born 27 October ) is a Danish former ballet dancer and choreographer. Martins was a principal dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet and with the New York City Ballet, where he joined George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and John Taras as balletmaster in He retired from dancing in , having achieved the rank of danseur noble, becoming Co-Ballet Master-In-Chief with Robbins. From until January , he was responsible for artistic leadership of City Ballet.
Early life
[edit]Martins was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark.[2] His parents were Børge Martins, an engineer, and Tove Christa Ornberg, a pianist.[2] His maternal aunt and uncle, Leif and Elna Ornberg, members of the Royal Danish Ballet, started teaching him ballroom combinations when he was five years of age; when he applied to ballet school, however, he was the subject of discrimination because his aunt and uncle had been Nazi
