Synopsis
Juan Crisostomo Ibarra is a youthful Filipino who, in the wake of reading for a very long time in Europe,
gets back to his local land to find that his dad, a well off landowner, has kicked the bucket in jail as the
aftereffect of a squabble with the ward minister, a Franciscan monk named Padre Damaso. Ibarra is
locked in to an excellent and achieved young lady, Maria Clara, the alleged little girl and lone offspring of
the rich Wear Santiago de los Santos, normally known as Capitan Tiago.
Ibarra makes plans to forego all squabbles and to work for the advancement of his kin. To show his well
meaning goals, he tries to build up, at his own cost, a government funded school in his local town. He
meets with apparent help from all, particularly Padre Damaso's replacement, a youthful and melancholy

The wealthy meztizo, like his father Don Rafael endeavors for reform primarily in the area of education in order to eliminate poverty and improve the lives of his countrymen. Upon learning about his father’s demise and the denial of a Catholic burial for his father Ibarra was provoked to hit Padre Damaso which eventually lead to his excommunication.
