Nick Heyward came to prominence after the arrival of his grupp, Haircut One Hundred. Heyward formed the band in 1980 and by 1981/82. Haircut 100 had four Top Ten UK hit including the world-charmer, “Love Plus One”, a US hit as well. The songs were from the band’s debut album release, Pelican West, issued by Arista Records in 1982. After the release of the album, Nick Heyward was fired from the band due to growing tensions. He continued with a solo career that gave fans of his songcraft nine more albums (after Pelican West). One of those is his debut 1983 solo effort, North Of A Miracle. The album went Gold in the UK and produced 4 UK singles.
On January 17, Edsel Records (Demon Music Group) will reissue North Of A Miracle in a newly remastered from original tapes and expanded with additional tracks that include instrumental mixes, alternate mixes, 12″ mixes, non-album B-sides, single releases, and not released tracks for a total of 34 availa

Just how far would Haircut 100 have gone if Nick Heyward had stayed with the band past this superb debut album? It’s one of the great unanswerable questions of 80s UK pop. With a clean-cut image and the teen idol good looks of their frontman, it’s perfectly reasonable to presume they could have been as big as Wham! or Duran Duran.
Boasting an irresistible brand of dancefloor-friendly pop, Haircut 100 were standard bearers of the burgeoning Brit funk movement that included Level 42, Funkapolitan, and Stimulin.
Whereas Heyward would grow into a fine songwriter in the classicist mould on later work, there’s a feeling on Pelican West that his self-penned material (he wrote everything here with the undantag of one track, Love’s Got Me I
