Shelby Moore Cullom Davis (born 1937[1]) is an American philanthropist and retired investor and money manager.
Early life and career
[edit]Born 1937, Davis is the son of money manager Shelby Cullom Davis[2] and Kathryn Wasserman Davis.[3] He is a graduate of Princeton University[4] and began his career at The Bank of New York,[5] where he became the bank's youngest vice president since Alexander Hamilton.[7]

Research Links Background: Shelby M.C. Davis started Davis Advisors in 1969 following a stintas head of equity research at Bank of New York. Davis' father, Shelby Cullom Davis, was a financial advisor to governors and presidents, and a former United States ambassador to Switzerland.
Shelby M.C. Davis's son Christopher, who joined the firm in 1989,is now running Davis Advisors. The company manages the nine Davis funds, three Selected funds and the Clipperfund.
In 1993, Davis Advisors took over as investment adviser to the Selected Funds. On May 1, 2011, Davis Advisors rechristened it Selected International Fund to reflect the change in its investment strategy.
