When people ask me where I’m from, I lead with Tanzania. I was born in its capital city after all. Next I’ll mention that most of my young life was spent growing up on the sometimes mean, more often pristine streets of Toronto, Canada. Amanda Luttrell Garrigus was born in Tanzania's eclectic, vibrant capital city of Dar es Salaam to a Louisiana-born father and a native Tanzanian mother. Her family moved from the tropics to Toronto, Canada when she was three-years-old. Amanda graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honors Bachelor of Arts grad, followed by post-graduate studies in Magazine Journalism at the highly-regarded Ryerson University. She began her impressive career in fashion journalism as an editorial intern at "Flare" and, then, as Associate Fashion Editor at "Fashion Magazine".
