    NANCY THURSTON – Nancy Alice Geake Thurston, 91, passed away early Sunday, January

    14th . Services will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 20th.

    Nancy was born to Samuel and Katherine Metzger Geake Sept. 18, 1926, in Ft. Wayne IN,

    where she lived first with her mother, father and sister, and later with her husband and children

    until moving to Overland Park, KS in 1994.

    Nancy attended Hanover College in Indiana where she played field hockey, studied liberal arts,

    and met and married the late William Asher Thurston. Their nicknames for each other were

    Dreamboat and Laughing Face and they shared lifelong happiness. Nancy worked many

    interesting jobs throughout her life, but found her greatest satisfaction in community and caring

    for others.

    Nancy will be remembered for the things she made, the volunteer work she did, and the love

    that she shared with her family, friends, church, and pets. We will re

    William Kenneth Thurston

    Whiteville : William Kenneth (Fuzzy) Thurston, 65 of Whiteville died Sunday, February 25,2018.  He was the son of Ellen McIntyre Thurston and the late Beverly Kent Thurston. He was born in Columbus County and was a  lifelong  member of the  Whiteville First Presbyterian Church . He managed Whiteville Building Supplies for over 34 years.
    Survivors include his wife : Nancy Faircloth Thurston of the home. Daughters:  Mandy Thurston Horne ( Josh) of Whiteville, N.C. and Bethany Thurston ( Tyler Boyles, Fiance’ ) of Murfreesboro, TN., Son: Chandler Thurston of Nashville, TN. Mother: Mrs. Ellen McIntyre Thurston of Whiteville, N.C. ,Sister; Kaye Thurston Pope (Paul ) of Whiteville, N.C.  One Granddaughter: Maggie  Horne of Whiteville, N.C.
    Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 28,2018  at the Whiteville First Presbyterian Church at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Washburn officiating .
