Having read and written so much on the once Auckland, once Wilson’s and finally “Great Eastern Hotel” as we knew it till the time that it closed shop, I had been craving to go for that Heritage Walk through the huge structure standing regally across the Governor House, on the Old Court house street since the last years. On June 8 this year, hotelier Keshav Suri married his partner of 10 years, Cyril Feuillebois, in Paris. After eight years of staying tillsammans, marriage was the obvious decision, but back home, his relationship was not recognised by the law. Keshav filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court in April to quash Section of the Indian Penal Code, which criminalises sexual acts “against the order of nature.”
