While working on Tangled at Disney, I explored many aspects of Rapunzel: her character, clothing, personality and surroundings- even her painting style. You can also check out the sketchbook I used to explore what a day in Rapunzel's tower would look like at the end of the collection.

Lovely: Ladies of Animation
If you know anything about the animation industry, you may be familiar with the fact that (similar to the arts), it has a history of being a very male-dominated profession. Based on a joint exhibit at Arludik galleri organized by Jean Jacques and Dianne Laurier, Lovely: Ladies of Animation highlights the work of six contemporary female visual-development artists working at Disney and/or Pixar's animation studios:
Lorelay Bové - Featuring "work outside of work," art/sketches based on her travels, and more. They have a very whimsical, Mary Blair (the designer of the "It's a Small World" Disneyland attraction) style to them.
Mingjue Helen Chen - Mostly digital work, but also has some ink and screentone art inspired by manga and other graphic novels. I adore her rendition of Princess Iron Fan, a character from Asian folklore --I'd definitely consider creating a costume/cosplay based on it!
