    Benjamini William Mkapa (12 Novemba1938 - 24 Julai2020) alikuwa Rais wa awamu ya tatu wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania (1995-2005) na mwenyekiti wa Chama Cha Mapinduzi, CCM.[1]

    Mkapa alizaliwa Lupaso karibu na Masasi katika kusini-mashariki ya Tanganyika. Kuanzia 1945 hadi 1951 alsoma shule za msingi pale Lupaso na Ndanda. 1952/53 alisoma shule ya seminari ya Kigonsera akaendelea kwenye shule ya sekondari ya watawa Wabenedikto pale Ndanda hadi kumaliza O-level. 1958/59 alimaliza A-levels pale St Farncis, Dar es Salaam (leo hii Pugu Secondary).       Benjamin William Mkapa (born November 12, 1938) is a Tanzanian politician who was the third President of Tanzania, in office from 1995 to 2005. He was also Chairman of the Revolutionary State Political Party (Chama Cha Mapinduzi, CCM).

      Biography

      Benjamin W. Mkapa, a seasoned reporter, diplomat and politician, was elected President of Tanzania in November 1995. He is the third President of the United Republic of Tanzania since independence in1961.

      President Mkapa was born in 1938 in Masasi, Mtwara region. He received his primary and secondary education in Tanzania, and continued his studies at Makerere University College in Uganda, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (with honours) in 1962.

      Ali Hassan Mwinyi (8 May 1925 – 29 February 2024) was a Tanzanian politician who served as the second president of the United Republic of Tanzania from 1985 to 1995.[1] Previous posts included Minister for Home Affairs and Vice President.[1] He also was chairman of the ruling party, the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) from 1990 to 1996.[1]

      During Mwinyi's terms, Tanzania took the first steps to reverse the socialist policies of Julius Nyerere.[2] He relaxed import restrictions and encouraged private enterprise. It was during his second term that multi-party politics were introduced under pressure for reform from foreign and domestic sources. Often referred to as Mzee Rukhsa ("everything goes"), he pushed for liberalization of morals, beliefs, values (without breaking the law), and the economy.[3]
